How Clients Have Used Their Backups
We've done 2,617 backups so far! Here are a few ways our backups have saved the day...
I was working on our marketing list and accidentally erased nearly 40 records from our database. Fortunately I was able to get the records from our backup file and reload them. Whew!
I was working on my home page and accidentally uploaded it before it was finished (and I couldn't finish it right away), so I restored a copy from my two-day old backup and I was back in business! Nobody had to see my broken home page.
My web host lost my web site AND the backup they were supposed to have. Luckily I asked my webmaster for a backup of my database soon after we completed the initial site (www.germainesafety.com) back in October of 2003. We didn't back it up after that because we thought our web host was doing it (and they did too) but the system failed. If we hadn't done that backup we would have lost our entire web site. (Note from Emily & Travis: This is the disaster that inspired us to create our backup service - we don't want to see this happen to anyone else if we can help it.)
