phplist is a wonderful, free program for managing your mailing lists. I'm setting it up for a client, and she wanted to know if the subject line could be personalized, because that's a very important part of the newsletter. People just love to be addressed personally. It turns out, that's a feature that needs to be added to phplist, but I did find a solution on the forums. It was easy to do and points out one of the great things about open source software - you can change it to fit your needs, if you're so inclined.
